Langer runner-up to Browne

Bernhard Langer finished runner-up to American Olin Browne in the Greater Gwinnett Championship on the US Champions Tour after the final round was washed out.

Browne was declared the winner after 36 holes following heavy rain on Sunday at TPC Sugarloaf, finishing one shot clear of German Langer.

It was the first Champions Tour event to be shortened to 36 holes since the 2011 Insperity Championship in Houston. Browne finished fourth at that tournament, which was won by Brad Faxon, but the cancellation worked in his favour this time following a second round 64, which gave him the lead, and ultimately the title, at 12 under par.

Langer, the 2013 champion, had also posted a second round 64 for an 11 under par total, meaning has one win and two second place finishes in the tournament’s three years.

Sweden’s Jesper Parnevik, a rookie on the senior circuit, finished in a share of fourth position on seven under par, while Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie and Spaniard Miguel Angel Jiménez finished in a share of tenth place on five under par.
