Scotland's Martin Laird feels right back at home as he looks to make an impression at this week's Open Championship.
The Glaswegian is a member of the US PGA Tour but quickly readjusted to links golf to finish fifth in last week's Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links.
The 30 year old is a 100/1 outsider at Muirfield but believes he is ready for the challenges the East Lothian course will present when the tournament begins on Thursday.
Laird said: "I played well last week and feel like my game is in good shape.
"I don't feel like I have come here and have to work on my short game, hit off the firm lies, or (practise) bump and runs - I did it all last week.
"It is more a case of learning the course and getting ready for Thursday. I feel ready to go.
"I like it so much here it doesn't take me long. Visually, there is nothing better than looking at a nice browned-up links course, it looks fantastic."
Recent summer weather has ensured the Muirfield turf is firm and further good conditions are also forecast.
Yet there are still plenty of obstacles to avoid, not least the course's heavy rough.
Laird said: "It is pretty intimidating from the tee, that is for sure, but when you get out there it is not quite as thick as it looks.
"You can still get bad lies but it is playable, which makes it a bit fairer and more fun.
"I played Muirfield once before years ago and don't really remember it but it always gets talked about as being one of the best, if not the best, links courses in Scotland and Britain. There is a reason why."
The Open has produced a number of surprise winners in the recent past and Laird sees no reason why he cannot join such company on his home soil.
Laird, a winner at the Texas Open in April, said: "Playing an Open Championship in Scotland - it doesn't get any better.
"Getting in the mix on Sunday would be fantastic.
"I'd love it, to get my hands on that little jug at the end of the week. It would be the pinnacle of my career.
"You never know, if I can get in the mix, give myself that chance, I could see what happens. It's links golf, you never know what will happen."
