Brooks Koepka will become the first European Challenge Tour graduate to represent the 2016 Ryder Cup USA team after securing a top-five spot in the American rankings to guarantee his place in the side for Hazeltine.
The 26 year old is one of the brightest stars to come through the ranks of Europe’s top developmental tour, where just four years ago he achieved his first professional victory at the Challenge de Catalunya.
After three further wins in just nine events during his second Challenge Tour season in 2013, the Florida native found himself on Europe’s top tier only one year after turning professional.
Koepka’s meteoric rise continued in the following campaign. The Palm Beach man held off Ian Poulter to claim a career-changing triumph in one of the European Tour’s biggest events, the Turkish Airlines Open.
Back in his native America, Koepka teed it up on the PGA Tour in February 2015 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and, perhaps unsurprisingly to anyone aware of his talents on the European Tour, he went on to take the title - crediting his time in Europe for his rapid ascent to the summit of world golf.
He will now take on our continent’s finest golfers in the 41st edition of The Ryder Cup, adding another remarkable achievement to what is an already impressive CV.
It’s official: Koepka has gone from Challenge Tour star to Ryder Cup challenger.
