Kingston on top on Friday morning

James Kingston fired a six under par 66 to take a one shot lead after the morning session of the second round at the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters presented by Shurooq.

The South African started the day three shots behind overnight leader Chris Williams, but made a fast start as he made four successive birdies from the third to the sixth holes.

A bogey on the ninth was cancelled out on the tenth, and the 51 year old made gains on the 12th and 15th holes to finish six under par at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club.

Kingston is one shot ahead of Gary Marks, who won his maiden European Senior Tour title at last year's Willow Senior Golf Classic.

Marks birdied the first three holes and made another on the sixth hole. A double bogey on the seventh threatened to halt his momentum, but he birdied the following hole to make up one shot.

A bogey on the 11th was followed by birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, leaving Marks with a four under par 68 for the day and a nine under par total.

Two-time Senior Major Champion Roger Chapman carded a five under par 67 to move to within three shots of the lead, and the Englishman shares third place with Denmark's Steen Tinning.
