Kim’s Ukraine lead cut to four

It was a cat and mouse chase at the top of the leaderboard midway through the third day of the Kharkov Superior Open as Sihwan Kim’s lead at the top was cut from six to four by Lloyd Kennedy, with in-form Dutchman Daan Huizing also in close pursuit.

Kim began the day six clear of the field after a course record-equalling 64 on the second day, which included a one in one at the par three 11th.

The Korean was holding firm after starting with a birdie, as he followed that with eight successive birdies to stay at the summit on 15 under par.

But his playing partner Lloyd Kennedy was piling the pressure on the 24 year old leader as the Englishman started with a birdie and followed that with three more at the fourth, seventh and ninth, with a single bogey at the fifth, to reach the turn in three under and move to 11 under for the tournament.

Huizing, meanwhile, continued his stunning form on the Challenge Tour as he negotiated the first 12 holes in five under par to move to 10 under for the tournament, five shots off the lead.
