Fisher Junior, who finished tied third here last year, carded an eagle, two birdies and a bogey over his opening 12 holes on the East Course to reach nine under for the tournament.

He was joined by 22 year old rookie Kieffer, who after his impressive opening 63 on the easier West Course was one under through 12 on the East Course.

Overnight joint leader Richard Sterne was still to tee off on the East, but had been joined in a share of third by compatriots MJ Daffue and Charl Schwartzel.

Sunshine Tour regular Daffue was two under with two to play on the East Course, but former Masters Tournament champion Schwartzel - a two-time winner here - ominously covered the West Course front nine in a four under 32.
