Khan takes up the Genworth Challenge

Simon Khan, the defending champion at this week’s BMW PGA Championship, was the latest player to try out the Genworth Putts4Charity Champions Challenge in the tented village.

Khan put in a sterling performance in the Pro/celebrity competition pushing current leader Ross Fisher all of the way with three consecutive one putts, the only hole he failed to hole out being the Ross Fisher green which replicates Ross’s putt on the 17th at last year’s Irish Open!

In the spectators’ competition, youth is definitely winning over experience with the first person to achieve the remarkable feat of holing all four putts being 15 year old James Bicker. With talent like this the Pro’s better watch out!

There is still plenty to play for with the overall leaders at the end of Sunday putting themselves in contention for some great prizes including a BMW convertible for the weekend, European Tour season passes and a signed Ross Fisher golf bag.  Even at this early stage of the week, the fans, players and celebrities who have taken part have already raised in excess of £11,000 to support the work of SoS Children’s Villages in helping abandoned and orphaned children across the UK.
