Tournament Director Daan Slooter said: "This is what we have worked hard for the past few years. For any sport event to have the numbers two, four and five in the world is special. It’s a great compliment for our sponsors, organisation, the KLM Open golf course and volunteers that these players are coming to the Netherlands in September. We are very proud that all passionate golfers in the Netherlands have the opportunity to see these players in action at Hilversum.’

The KLM Open dates back to 1912. Hilversumsche Golf Club has been the host club a record 25 times. Westwood won the title at the venue in 1999, Miguel Angel Jiménez in 1994 and Seve Ballesteros in 1980. Kaymer was champion in 2010, the year that the golf club celebrated its 100th anniversary, and defends his title.

The KLM Open is supported by the partners KLM, Deloitte and ABN AMRO and is organised by TIG Sports. The KLM Open is one of the best visited sport events of the Netherlands and will be played for the 92nd time in 2011. The KLM Open is also one of the oldest tournaments of the European Tour.
