Joost Luiten is determined to keep knocking on the door of DP World Tour win number seven after putting himself right in contention for the second week running at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
Amid some chaotic scoring at the top of the leaderboard on day three at The Belfry, Luiten carded a 68 to get to seven under and share the lead seven days after taking a three-shot advantage into the final round of the BMW International Open.
He was still ahead stood on the 17th tee in Munich but a bogey and a two-shot swing saw him lose out by one and secure a fourth top-three finish of the season.
That in itself is a remarkable return to form after a 2022 that saw him finish 126th on the Rankings - his first season out of the top 100 since 2009 - and use his career earnings exemption to stay on Tour.
He will have no such concerns next season as he sits tenth on the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex, and the Dutchman is confident he can turn his recent renaissance into a win.
"I'll keep knocking and I'll keep trying," he said. "I'm playing good, so it will open some day. If I can keep doing what I did today, hole some putts and stay out of trouble, that would be good.
"It took a couple of days to get over (last week) and especially the first round for me, it was tough to get into tournament golf again because I felt like I wasn't over it yet.
"But sometimes the best thing to get over things is playing rounds of golf and put yourself under pressure again and it helps if you have a decent opening round of three under and gets you into this tournament.
"Once the tournament started here, I just said to myself, 'alright, just forget it and move on'."
