Jones advanced to 11 under par after shooting a bogey-free five-under 67 at Trump International Golf Course in Rio Grande.

The 31 year old led from American George McNeill, who was outright second on eight under after his two under 70.

Japanese rising star Ryo Ishikawa matched Jones' round of five under to move equal third with American Todd Hamilton (three under), with the pair a shot back from McNeill.

A group of six round out the top ten on six under, with Argentinian Andres Romero joining American quintet Daniel Summerhays, Roberto Castro, Boo Weekley, Kevin Stradler and Kevin Kisner.

Defending champion Michael Bradley was ten shots off the pace on one under after carding a 71 for his second round.
