While Europe's Ryder Cup celebrations will live long in the memory for all those involved, Miguel Angel Jiménez was left with an unwanted reminder for a week afterwards.
The Spanish star, who beat Bubba Watson 4 & 3 in the singles to secure a vital point, has revealed that in the midst of the jubilant scenes that greeted Graeme McDowell clinching victory at the 17th he was left with an injured ankle.
"I sprained my ankle on the 17th there when everything is done," explained the 46 year old. "And I've been icing all Sunday and Monday night and for two or three days.
"There were so many people there that you cannot see the ground, and I hurt my ankle. There's a hole (in the rough) there you cannot see because there's so many people there. And the Monday night, I cannot put my foot on the ground."
Despite the knock, pre-tournament favourite Jiménez is fully recovered and raring to go at this week's Portugal Masters.
And having won three events already on The European Tour this season, he is hoping to use the positive emotions from The Celtic Manor Resort to add a fourth at Oceanico Victoria Golf Course.
"It's unbelievable - a great experience," he added. "It's amazing. Nothing compares really."
Jiménez also welcomed the news that from 2011 European Tour Members will be required to play 13 events on The European Tour International Schedule, an increase of one from the current 12.
"I think that's perfect," he said. "I think that is something that's very good. We have to look for Europe; we have to look out for the sponsors.
"We cannot forget one thing, all of the players that play now in America and other parts of the world, but this is their roots, and this is the cement, their home - and then you are not supposed to throw stones at your own house.
"We have to grow and we have to make those things and force the players to look in his own house."
