Jamieson joins Germany lead

Scott Jamieson joined Sébastien Gros at the top of the leaderboard early in round two of the BMW International Open, with another day of tough scoring on the cards at Golf Club Gut Laerchenhof.

Unforgiving rough and high winds had provided a testing challenge for the field on day one and Friday morning was no different, with overnight leader Gros dropping a shot in his first 11 holes to fall into a four-way share at three under.

Scotland's Jamieson was part of that group after turning in level par, alongside England's Aaron Rai and Swede Henric Sturehed who were among the afternoon starters.

Fellow late starters Christofer Blomstrand, Nico Geyger, Mark Tullo, Victor Perez and Nicolai von Dellingshausen made up the group a shot off the lead, with Matt Wallace the only player in the top ten under par at two under for his round.

Gros won twice en route to graduating from the Challenge Tour in 2015 but had to go back to the Qualifying School last season, regaining his card and then equalling his best European Tour finish with a tie for fourth at the Tshwane Open.

Jamieson enjoyed his best year on the European Tour last season, finishing 26th on the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex but had missed four of his last six cuts.

Gros slipped back into a share of the lead with a bogey on the 12th but quickly recovered with birdies on the 15th and 17th before back-to-back dropped shots on the 18th and first.

Jamieson briefly shared the lead at four under with a birdie on the 15th but bogeyed the 17th to turn in 36.

Hero Indian Open champion Wallace birdied the 12th and 13th in his first six holes to get within two of the lead alongside Jorge Campillo, who made a double-bogey on the second, and Scott Hend and Julien Quesne who were level par on the day.

Local favourites Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem were both three under for their rounds to sit at level par and one over respectively.
