A dramatic day is in store on Saturday at Lake Karrinyup Country Club as players battle it out to make the top 24 and secure a place in the match play stages of the inaugural ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth.
Here, we take a look at what some of those players in pole position to make it to Sunday had to say after their second rounds.
David Bransdon (64, -11, 2nd)
"You need to be in that top eight after three rounds so I'm in a good position with that. Top 24, obviously, that's the goal because if you're not in the top 24 you don't get to be part of the fun on Sunday. Obviously, the first two rounds it's a normal event, even the third round we make a cut. But even with the third round being normal you've still got to be aware of the top 24 because you don't want to be just making the cut on the number around 60th or 55th because you've got to make a low score to get to the top 24 for Sunday."
Lucas Herbert (68, -9, T4th)
"I think that top eight, if not the top 24, is the goal so I put myself in a good position for that. Another solid round tomorrow, we might be heading into some match play. I think it will be really refreshing for the guys. You obviously have Ryder Cup players that are playing match play once every two years for the Europeans, so I think it will be really refreshing for the guys to play a new format and have a new format decide the winner."
Thorbjørn Olesen (67, -7, T10th)
"Obviously you need a good score tomorrow, hopefully, so I can be in a good position for the match play. I hit a few bad shots also and I had some great up-and-downs which kept me going and I had two great shots on seven and holed a great putt also but the key was a few good up-and-downs, definitely. I've seen most of this golf course over the last three years so it gives me a lot of confidence and I know I can hit a few shots from the trees. So even though I hit some bad drives, I still managed to get around."
Louis Oosthuizen (68, -7, T10th)
"I think if I can do four or five under tomorrow that can work and I should be fine to be in the top eight then. You can be a bit more easy on yourself for the first three rounds. Even if you are seven, eight behind, it's not going to be an issue going into Sunday. You're basically just playing to get top eight after Saturday and if not, be in the top 24. So just not trying anything silly out there with taking on risky shots, I'm just plodding along and seeing how many pars I can make and how many birdie opportunities I can get."
