ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth day three - What they said

Brett Rumford finished day three of the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth five shots clear of the field to earn himself a bye into the last-16 at Karrinyup Country Club.

With a six-hole match play knockout to come on Sunday, eight players secured themselves a direct route into the second round, and here is what some of them had to say.

Jason Scrivener (66, -12)

"It kind of crept up on me today. I didn't have the best start, it was a little scratchy, and finally I got a run toward the end. So I'm happy to be in a good position and I can have a bit of a sleep in tomorrow. It's going to be exciting, I think. Obviously it's nice to be able to skip that first round. That was the goal I think of everyone to be in that top eight. It will be interesting. I've always enjoyed the challenge, the one on one aspect of it. I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

Jake Higginbottom (66, -11)

"I played solid, no bogeys out there today so that's always a good thing. I holed some nice putts and it was good to play with Scrivy as well. I guess we fed off each other and both ended up shooting six under today so it was good. It's going to be different but it's going to be short and sweet I guess. You get six-hole matches. You're going to have to make birdies, so it's going to be different, but I'm sure it's going to be an enjoyable day."

Austin Connelly (66, -12)

"I played quite smart, solid golf. I was hitting the proper side of the hole on almost every hole and on the odd times I didn't I was able to save myself and bogey-free 66 was exactly what I had in mind. I talked to my dad before the round and our goal was bogey-free and we accomplished it, so I'm very excited. I've played a lot of match play and I love it, it's really fun. It will be obviously the first time I've played six-hole match play but it will be interesting, it will be fun. I'm looking forward to it."

Adam Blyth (68, -12)

"I did kind of monitor that top 24 and the top eight. So you're very aware of everything that's happening. I think you need to be because you want to play your own game, yes, but you need to know what's going on in case you're on the 24 or you're just inside where you can play a bit smarter than normal or you need some birdies and get aggressive. So it's pretty interesting because there was a lot going on out there. I really enjoy match play. It's going to be very interesting. You've just got to get away to a good start really and hang in there. Six holes is a real shootout and anyone can really do well over that period. So I think it doesn't really matter. If you're top 24,  24th can win it this week. It's really back to square one in a sense."
