The European Challenge Tour is back in Sweden for a second week for the Indoor Golf Group Challenge. Here are three players to look out for at Landeryds Golfklubb.
Form horse
Ivan Cantero Gutierrez registered his second top ten in his last three starts with a tied second place finish in the Dormy Open at Askersunds Golfklubb last week. The Spaniard, who climbed up to 12th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings with that result, will be hoping to consolidate his place inside the top 20 when he tees it up this week. The 27-year-old has had two second place finishes this year alongside four other top tens, with only a win now missing from an impressive resume.
Local boy
Jesper Svensson is a winner on the Challenge Tour already this year after triumphing in the B-NL Challenge Trophy back in May. That was the Swede’s first start of the season, and he’s since gone on to register three more top ten finishes. The 27-year-old is also yet to miss a cut. With promotion to the DP World Tour now a real possibility – he’s currently 10th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings – he’ll be hoping the second of back-to-back weeks in his home country can bring more success. A win could see him climb as high as third in the Rankings.
The outsider
Anton Albers has made the cut in each of his last three outings. Following a tied 65th at the Big Green Egg German Challenge powered by VcG, he shared 50th place at the British Challenge presented by Modest! Golf Management, before securing a tied second place at last week’s Dormy Open; his best result of the season to date. The German fired a final round 61 to catapult himself into second spot and is trending in the right direction as he looks to secure more playing opportunities for the remainder of 2023.
