Im makes Morocco move

Daniel Im was the big mover early on day two of the Trophée Hassan II as he joined a five-way tie at the top of the leaderboard at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.

The Red Course presents notoriously difficult shots off the tee and thick rough, resulting in tough scoring on both days with Jason Scrivener, Thomas Linard and Francesco Laporta holding the overnight lead at four under.

Scrivener and Laporta were among the later starters with Linard having a tough start to the day as Im, Zander Lombard and Estanislao Goya all moved to the top of the leaderboard.

American Im was a joint winner of the Qualifying School in November and he recorded birdies on the 11th, 15th and fourth to get to three under for the day through 13 holes.

Lombard has recorded top 15 finishes in all four of his European Tour events so far this season and the South African got off to a brilliant start as he birdied the tenth and eagled the 12th to get to five under before a bogey on the 15th dropped him back.

Goya opened with an impressive 69 but the Argentinian bogeyed the tenth and 11th to drop down the leaderboard before three birdies in four holes from the 18th reignited his hopes.

Spaniard Borja Virto Astudillo had hit the front after back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th but he dropped shots on the first and third to drop to three under alongside later starters Younes El Hassani and Adrien Saddier.

Rhys Davies won this event the last time it was staged in Rabat in 2010 and the Welshman made birdies on the tenth, 12th and 15th to join the group at two under alongside Australian Dimitros Papadatos, who was two under for the day, and Alejandro Cañizares, who had picked up a single shot.

There were then 31 players within three shots of the lead on a congested leaderboard.

Linard was six over for the day after 14 holes as he slipped to two over, right on the early cut-line.
