Hend to return to Mauritius

Recent European Tour winner Scott Hend has confirmed his participation in next month’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, to be held at the stunning Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita.

The 43 year old claimed his second European Tour title at the True Thailand Classic presented by Chang in March, continuing the success by Australians this season after victories for Marc Leishman, Nathan Holman, Marcus Fraser, Adam Scott and Jason Day.

Hend was tied fifth in last year’s inaugural edition, which was played at Heritage Golf Club, and said: “I’m excited to return to the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Mauritius is one of the most beautiful places I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

“I’m looking forward to playing the course at the Four Seasons Golf Club.”

In 2015, Hend, who is known for his prodigious length off the tee, won the Venetian Macao Open on the Asian Tour for the second time in three years and took second place in the Order of Merit courtesy of two other top-five finishes.

Ryan Dodds Chairman of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open Organising Committee, said: “We look forward to Scott Hend playing again this year at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open as one of our headline players.

At the inaugural tournament last year, he put on a good performance and is currently playing great golf.  We have no doubt that he will be one of the top players to watch at the tournament in May.”

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is the only tri-sanctioned tournament between the European, Sunshine and Asian Tours.
