Hebert's ace voted Shot of the Month for April

Fans of My European Tour have voted Benjamin Hebert’s hole-in-one on the final day of the Volvo China Open – the first ace of the Frenchman’s professional career – The European Tour Shot of the Month Presented by Nespresso for April.

Benjamin Hebert receives a cheque for £1,000 from Justine Hunter, PR & Communications Manager for Nespresso

Hebert received 28 per cent of the votes for his sensational six iron on the 180-yard eighth hole, which pitched six feet from the flag and promptly spun into the middle of the cup to spark scenes of celebration at Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club.

Hebert’s prize for winning The European Tour Shot of the Month Presented by Nespresso is a cheque for £1,000 to donate to his charity of choice, WeForest, an international non-profit association which aims to create and promote a pioneer movement in large-scale sustainable reforestation.

Hebert, who was presented with the cheque by Justine Hunter, PR & Communications Manager for Nespresso, said: “It’s a very nice feeling. I was obviously very happy at the time, and now I’m also very happy to have won the Shot of the Month.

“It was probably the best shot of my career so far. The pin was just behind a little slope so I didn’t actually see the ball go in the hole, but as soon as the people behind the green started cheering, I knew it was in.

“I would like to thank Nespresso for the opportunity to donate some money to charity. These days most people just think about technology, but nature is very important to me so that’s why I chose to give the cheque to WeForest.”

Hebert’s compatriot Julien Quesne finished runner-up with his deft chip on the 15th hole of the Volvo China Open, which received 20 per cent of the votes polled; whilst in third place, with 19 per cent of the votes, was Korean Byeong-hun An’s ace on the eighth hole on the opening day of the inaugural Shenzhen International.

Hebert joins South African Branden Grace (January), Spaniard Miguel Angel Jiménez (February) and Dane Morten Ørum Madsen (March) as winners of The European Tour Shot of the Month Presented by Nespresso.

The monthly winners will compete for The 2015 European Tour Shot of the Year, won in 2014 by Wales’ Jamie Donaldson for the wedge which sealed Europe’s Ryder Cup victory.
