The field for the inaugural Norwegian Challenge next week are in for a treat as Hauger Golf Klubb is one of the finest courses in northern Europe.
Located about 20km north-east of Olso, the capital, Hauger was designed by Jeremy Turner, the renowned architect of numerous first class Scandinavian courses. It is set in rolling parkland and has many exciting elevation changes in its 7,012 yards, par 72 layout.
The first few holes have quite tight, tree-lined fairways, and the par-four first and par-three fifth have thrilling elevated tee shots with magnificent views down to the green.
The hardest hole on the course is possibly the 13th, a 480-yard par four which is uphill from tee to green and requires an accurate drive threaded between a steep bank to the left and trees to the right.
It will be the first time the Challenge Tour has visited Norway since the Lexus Open in 2008, and after a two-week break since the English Challenge, the players will return to action refreshed for the second half of the season.
It is also the most northerly venue on the Challenge Tour this season.
