Harrington grants second part of Peter's Wish

Padraig Harrington is generously granting the second part of Peter McEnery’s 3 Irish Open Wish in support of the tournament’s chosen charity, Make-A-Wish, Ireland, by playing golf with the 14 year old at the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club this week.

The first part of Peter’s wish was granted last week when he was presented with a new set of clubs from the equipment companies who sponsor The European Tour’s professionals. Now the second part of Peter's wish - to play golf with Padraig Harrington - is coming true this Wednesday during the 3 Irish Open Pro-Am.  Peter will play as a special member of Padraig's Pro-Am Team, walking the fairways of the Killeen Course with his hero.

Harrington, who is a Make-A-Wish, Ireland Ambassador and a huge supporter of the charity along with wife Caroline, was delighted to grant Peter’s wish. The three-time Major Champion will also present Peter with Kartel golf gear, which has been branded in the style of a Tour Professional to wear on his special day.

Kartel has also teamed up with Padraig Harrington to run a charity drive at this year’s 3 Irish Open by selling special edition poloshirts at the event to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through the Padraig Harrington Charitable Foundation. The special edition shirts will be on sale at the Kartel Stand in the 3 Irish Open Sponsor's Village for the duration of the event until Sunday 1st August 2010.

Commenting on the charity promotion, Harrington said: “I’m looking forward to playing golf with Peter and making his wish come true, I am sure we will have a lot of fun.  Also the initiative from Kartel is a great way to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Ireland, a charity very close to the hearts of myself and Caroline.”

Susan O'Dwyer, Chief Executive of Make-A-Wish, said: “Make-A-Wish is thrilled that Padraig is playing golf with Peter.  Peter is certainly going to have a 3 Irish Open golfing experience to remember.  We are also delighted to be associated with this truly generous endeavour by Kartel. We hope that people support Padraig Harrington, Make-A-Wish and Kartel for the duration of the week.”

Elaine Carey, Sales and Marketing Director, 3 said; “We are delighted that Peter will have the opportunity to play golf with one of Ireland’s greatest players at the 3 Irish Open in Killarney.  This will be a chance for Peter to feel like a superstar golfer at one of Europe’s top golf tournaments and it will be an unforgettable experience for him.”

The third and final part of Peter’s Wish will be granted later this week in Killarney.  There will be various fundraising activities in aid of Make-A-Wish to enable them to continue granting magical wishes.
