Peter Hanson aims to sharpen his wedge play and prove his game is in prime condition for next week's Ryder Cup at the Vivendi Cup 2010.
The 32 year old Swede will make his debut for Colin Montgomerie's European Team at The Celtic Manor Resort from October 1-3, but first will look to continue his good form at Golf de Joyenval in Paris.
And Hanson is set to take his place in a field that also includes Cup teammate Padraig Harrington and Vice Captain Paul McGinley despite feeling unwell in the build-up to the event.
"I was feeling okay up until yesterday," said the Czech Open champion. "I got a bit of a chest infection, a bit of a cold.
"We don't want to be sick next week, so I'll try to treat that and see the doctor and hopefully I'll be ready to play tomorrow morning."
And Hanson feels his game is in good shape after his victory at Prosper Golf Resort last month.
"I felt pretty good yesterday - I played 18 holes yesterday and been doing a lot of practising back in Sweden over the last two weeks, my swing is in a good groove.
"Like you say I wanted to come here and fine tune and work the last bit on my form and be really sharp next week."
The tournament is being played over two courses, the Marly Course and the Retz Course, but with both measuring under 6,250 yards, Hanson knows which part of his game will need to be sharp if he is to take home the €204,160 winner's cheque on Sunday.
"I was out yesterday and played one of the courses, pretty short," he added. "It's a lot of wedge game and I think if the weather stays like this, it's going to be very low scoring."
Another person looking forward to the first Vivendi Cup is Frenchman Thomas Levet.
“It's always a pleasure to have a new tournament on The European Tour, and being French, having an extra tournament in France is always good,” he said.
“I used to live not too far from here, and I played here that tournament, we played the French PGA on that course before and got beat by one, and it's always good memories to come back here.”
