Hanson pleased with Masters performance

Peter Hanson was left to reflect on a cold putter, but the Swede was able to take pride in a tremendous Masters Tournament showing after finishing tied for third at Augusta National.

Hanson was the overnight leader on nine under, but a closing 73 saw him finish two shots behind Louis Oosthuizen and Bubba Watson.

The Ryder Cup star did produce a strong finish, chipping to two feet to birdie the 15th, playing a superb tee shot at the 16th and holing a 15 foot birdie putt at the last for his best Major Championship finish.

“It was a pretty tough day for us,” said Hanson, who struggled to get back into contention after bogeys at the first and third.

“I didn’t get off to a great start with two bogeys. I was struggling with the greens as they were a little bit quicker.

“It was nice, there’s a a bit of nerves for everybody. I enjoyed playing with Phil [Mickelson]. Unfortunately today it didn't work out, I didn't hole enough putts. I’m a little bit disappointed but when i look back at it it’s been a great week.

“I think it was a good test. Like I said yesterday, it was a good test of emotion being out, how I can handle myself. It was still a new situation for me playing the last group and playing with Phil. It felt like it worked out pretty good, but like I said, I think your weaknesses show a little bit when you come under pressure.

“It's best thing on earth, I guess to play the back nine at Augusta in the last group. It's amazing. I have to say even yesterday when I shot 31 and Phil shot 30 on the back, with the atmosphere and the noise around the back nine was just fantastic.”
