Gavin Green is aiming to enjoy himself on Sunday as he looks to chase down Padraig Harrington and Andrea Pavan to win his first European Tour title at the D+D Real Czech Masters.
The Malaysian entered round three at Albatross Golf Resort with a one-shot lead but found himself three behind at the end of the day as he battled his way to a 70.
The 24 year old showed incredible powers of recovery to turn in 33 after leaving himself in trouble off the tee on several occasions.
He made unlikely birdies from tough positions on the fourth and sixth and while his play off the tee improved on the way home, he only had a bogey on the 17th to show for it.
The reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit champion is still right in the mix in Prague, however, as he aims to become his country's first ever European Tour winner.
It’s going to be fun tomorrow, I’m enjoying it and just having fun and trying to shoot as many under as I can - Gavin Green
“I struggled off the tee, I was everywhere today,” he said. “But I recovered really well and putted pretty decent, I had a couple of really good lag putts that gave me pars on the par fives.
“I ground it out and shot two under and I’m still in the hunt tomorrow so it’s okay, not terrible. It’s going to be fun tomorrow, I’m enjoying it and just having fun and trying to shoot as many under as I can.
“I think you need to play aggressive out there. If my driving was solid I think it would have been better but I was out of position so many times I couldn’t get close to the pin, so I was grinding for pars.
“Thankfully the par fives gave me birdie opportunities so I think tomorrow we’ll just try to keep the drives in play and hopefully take advantage.
“If the wind is calm and somebody goes crazy, who knows, it’s going to be low. So tomorrow we’re just going to go out and give ourselves as many birdie opportunities as possible and try to go from there.”
