Peter Hanson needed just four holes to triple his overnight lead as the Swede moved closer to a second win in two months at the BMW Masters in Shanghai.
One ahead of World Number One Rory McIlroy at the start of the final round, Hanson extended his advantage with a birdie from five feet at the second taking him to 17 under par.
The KLM Open winner went three ahead when his playing partner missed from three feet for par at the fourth.
South African George Coetzee was able to join McIlroy in second place on 14 under with a six footer for birdie at the second.
Coetzee and McIlroy both bogeyed the fifth after missing par putts of eight and four feet respectively, but the Northern Irishman responded with a tee shot to 15 inches at the sixth and the subsequent birdie saw him get the gap back to three.
Coetzee – yet to win on The European Tour – was down to third as a result, alongside Ireland’s recent Portugal Masters winner Shane Lowry and England’s World Number Three Luke Donald.
Hanson went four in front when he reached the par five seventh in two and two-putted, while Ian Poulter followed a 20 foot birdie on the tenth with another gain at the 11th to join compatriot and Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose, McIlroy and Coetzee on 14 under.
