The revolutionary GolfSixes returns to the Race to Dubai for the third time this week, with 16 teams battling it out for the trophy.
Among them are two women's teams, three Ryder Cup players and multiple European Tour winners, but who will lift the trophy in Cascais on Saturday?
Here, we take a look at three of the teams going for glory at Oitavos Dunes.
Ireland
Where better to start than with the defending champions who, it is fair to say, caused a bit of an upset with last year's victory. Gavin Moynihan had not made a cut all season when he arrived at the 2018 GolfSixes, although Paul Dunne had two tops tens in three starts leading up to the event. They dovetailed beautifully when the action got under way, suffering just one loss in the group stages to France, a defeat they would avenge in the final. After going back to the Qualifying School, Moynihan is faring better this season, making five cuts and the weekend at the Belgian Knockout, while Dunne has shown his prowess in six hole golf, finishing third at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth. Nobody will be underestimating the Irish.
England Women
One of the great successes of the first two editions of the GolfSixes has been the inclusion of women's teams and England Women will be flying the flag for the Ladies European Tour as well as their country. Meghan MacLaren is no stranger to mixing it with the men, taking a three stroke lead into the final holes of the Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla before finally finishing second to Daan Huizing. She has won the NSW Women's Open in consecutive seasons and currently sits fourth on the LET Order of Merit. She is paired with Florentyna Parker, a three time winner on the LET and member of the 2017 Solheim Cup team alongside last season's England Women pair of Georgia Hall and Charley Hull. England Women will face Ireland in their group, a chance for revenge after defeat at the quarter-final stage last season.
South Africa
With one Rolex Series victory, six other European Tour wins and previous GolfSixes experience on their side, the South Africans could take some beating. George Coetzee is a four time European Tour winner and has finished in the top 70 on the Race to Dubai Rankings Presented by Rolex every season since coming through the Qualifying School in 2010. He also has a runner up finish this term at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. Reigning Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open champion Brandon Stone is not enjoying his best season but has won on the European Tour every year since graduating from the Challenge Tour in 2015. Both men have played GolfSixes before but have failed to make the second day - they will be eager to change that now they are paired together.
