Goddard makes his move in Lucerne

After launching himself into contention with a stunning seven under par second round, Luke Goddard joined Janne Mommo at the top of the leaderboard in the early stages of his third round at the Credit Suisse Challenge.

The young Englishman climbed 58 places after adding a 64 to his level par opening round of 71 to move within one shot of the overnight lead and he picked up from where he left off as he birdied the first on ‘moving day’.

He proceeded to birdie the fourth hole to go two under through five and move to the top of the leaderboard on nine under par, alongside Finland’s Mommo who was one under for the day through four holes after birdieing the first, and one shot clear of Italy's Andrea Perrino.

Mommo was the tied leader going into the weekend’s play alongside Garry Houston of Wales, who had a poor start with two bogeys on the opening two holes. He carded a birdie at the fourth hole, however, and stayed in touch two shots off the lead on seven under par.

Gary Stal briefly held the outright lead after the young Frenchman birdied the opening two holes but a bogey on the fourth set him back to leave him two shots off the lead alongside compatriot Alexandre Kaleka, who was level par through four, Houston and Spain’s Agustin Domingo.
