Genworth Stats Pack - Summary Report

Round 4 produced 15 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 72.54. Simon Thornton emerged from a playoff against Tjaart Van Der Walt, with Benson and Dinwiddie following behind. We analyse their performances and round up the final Genworth Statistics leaders.

Simon THORNTON -5

Simon Thornton converted four birdies against three bogeys on his way to a final round 70, emerging as the winner from a playoff with Tjaart Van Der Walt. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 36 year old Irish golfer ranked 5th for Driving Accuracy, 9th for Greens in Regulation, 3rd for Putts per GIR and 1st for Par 4 Scoring, plus don’t forget a hole-in-one on the 11th in Round 3. With this win Simon claims the first European Tour / Challenge Tour title of his career.

Tjaart VAN DER WALT -5

Tjaart Van Der Walt converted four birdies against one bogey and one double bogey on his way to a final round 70, but fell just shy in a playoff to Simon Thornton. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 38 year old South African ranked high in most categories, including 5th for Greens in Regulation and 2nd for Putts per GIR. It seems a case of so near yet so far this week for Tjaart, who led the tournament (or shared for the lead) after every round.

Seve BENSON -4

Three time Challenge Tour winner Seve Benson converted four birdies against three bogeys on his way to a final round 70 (a common final round score for the leading players). Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 26 year old English golfer ranked 8th for Driving Accuracy and 2nd for Greens in Regulation, plus he accumulated the most birdies alongside Robert Dinwiddie (18 in total). This third place finish pushes Seve up to 117th on the Race to Dubai and 3rd on the Challenge Tour rankings.

Robert DINWIDDIE -2

Robert Dinwiddie produced a real mixed bag during his final round but he finished in a blaze of glory with three birdies for a 70 and fourth place all on his own. Looking at his Genworth Statistics for the week, the 30 year old Englishman accumulated 18 birdies (even though he struggled a little on the Par 5 holes) and he averaged a superb 2.69 for Par 3 Scoring (ranking 1st on his own). This fourth place finish pushes Robert up to 7th on the Challenge Tour rankings.
