Genworth Stats Pack - Round 3 Review

Following a late finish due to inclement weather, Round 3 of the BMW International Open produced 39 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 71.28. Ernie Els, Alex Noren and Alexander Levy lead on -15 with Björn and Baldwin following close behind. We analyse their performances plus we round up the Genworth Statistics leaders going into Sunday.

Ernie ELS -15

Ernie Els suffered three 3-putts during his third round today but finished strongly for a 69, keeping his hopes of a wire to wire victory alive. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, only Ricardo Gonzalez has 3-putted more times than the 43 year old South African, but just look at his approach play. Ernie is hitting a massive 90.7% Greens in Regulation, plus he has hit five of the Par 5 greens in sub-regulation two shots (helping him to an amazing Par 5 Scoring average of 4.08).

Alex NOREN -15

Alex Noren converted one eagle and five birdies against one bogey on his way to a third round 66, to move up into a tie for the lead going into Sunday. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 30 year old Swedish golfer ranks pretty average in each of the long game categories, but his touch on and around the greens has been superb. The 3 time European Tour winner has dropped just two shots so far and he ranks 1st for Par 4 Scoring with a 3.73 average.

Alexander LEVY -15

Alexander Levy converted six birdies against two bogeys on his way to a third round 68, tying for the lead with 18 holes to play. It is quite interesting when you look at the Genworth Driving Statistics of all three leaders, with none of them ranking very high. But the 22 year old French talent makes up for it with his approach play and his putting, plus his Par 5 Scoring is nearly as good as Ernie’s. Alexander will be vying for his first European Tour title tomorrow.
