Genworth Stats Pack - Round 3 Review

Alejandro Cañizares converted six birdies against two bogeys on his way to a third round 68, and a one shot lead going into Sunday. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 30 year old golfer from Spain ranks 7th for Driving Accuracy (with 32/42 fairways) and 31st for Greens in Regulation (with 34/54 greens), but it is his putting that really stands out. Alejandro ranks 1st or 2nd in each of the putting categories and he seems to be performing better on the greens than any other player in the field.

Lee Westwood converted one eagle and four birdies against just one bogey on his way to a superb third round 67. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 40 year old Englishman is performing very strongly from tee to green, ranking 13th for Driving Accuracy, 14th for Greens in Regulation and 7th for Scrambles (plus he ranks 8th for Par 5’s in 2). As a result of his consistency, Lee has dropped the fewest shots during the tournament so far (just five bogeys).

Matteo Manassero converted four birdies against one bogey on his way to a 69 in the easier third round playing conditions. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 20 year old rising star from Italy ranks quite low down the field for the Driving statistics, but surely he cannot be missing the fairways by much because in contrast he ranks 1st for Greens in Regulation (with 41/54 greens hit). Note that Matteo also ranks 1st for Par 3 Scoring which confirms the quality of his iron approach play this week.

Marc Warren converted four birdies against two bogeys on his way to a third round score of 70. The 32 year old golfer from Scotland is driving the ball long off the tee and he is hitting a reasonable number of greens in regulation, but it is on and around the greens where Marc seems to be excelling. He ranks 5th for Scrambles, 6th for Putts per Round and 3rd for 1 Putts per Round.

Shane Lowry converted four birdies against one bogey on his way to a third round 69, to sit three shots back with 18 holes to play. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 26 year old Irish talent is looking strong across the board with no real weaknesses. He is hitting it long and straight, averaging a good number of greens in regulation and his touch around the greens is excellent.
