Genworth Stats Pack - Round 2 Review

Round 2 of the Omega European Masters produced 68 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 70.75. Stephen Gallacher and Thomas Björn lead on -10. We analyse their performances and round up the half way Genworth Statistics leaders.

Thomas BJÖRN -10

Thomas Björn converted six birdies against a single bogey on his way to a second consecutive 66, tying for the lead at the half way stage. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 42 year old Great Dane has performed steadily with the longer clubs but he has really excelled on and around the greens, ranking high in each of the short game categories (including 1st for Putts per Round with just 51 putts in total). Overall, the 13 time European Tour winner has dropped the fewest shots of all the players alongside Richard Finch (who deserves a quick mention here for Scrambling 10/10 times for Par when missing the green).

Stephen GALLACHER -10

Stephen Gallacher converted seven birdies against a single bogey on his way to a second round 65, tying for the lead alongside Björn. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 38 year old Scottish golfer actually ranks lower than expected for Driving Accuracy, but he cannot be missing the fairways by much because he ranks 7th for Greens in Regulation (with 27/36 greens hit), plus he is scoring well across the different hole types (being the Par 3’s / Par 4’s / Par 5’s). The two time European Tour winner is on the way to potentially his best ever year (his previous best season finish was 15th in 2004).
