The strong winds eased today for the second round of the Africa Open, providing good scoring conditions for the field, as well as enabling the tournament to catch up with Round 2 finishing on time. We analyse the half way leaders Adilson Da Silva and Jaco Van Zyl.
Adilson DA SILVA -14
Adilson Da Silva is producing a golfing master class over the East London Links. After 36 holes he leads the Genworth Driving Accuracy statistic (hitting every fairway 30/30) and he also leads the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic (with 29/36). Every department of his game is in top form. Interestingly though, Adilson has not hit a single Par 5 green in sub-regulation 2 shots (ranking 96th). The golf course is indeed shorter than average by modern day European Tour standards, but it just goes to show that you don’t need to be a bomber to perform well at the highest level.

Jaco VAN ZYL -11
Jaco Van Zyl converted eight birdies in his second round of 67. The East London course specialist is driving the ball great (80.0% fairways hit) which is enabling him to hit 72.2% of the Greens in Regulation, plus rank well in each of the Genworth Putting Statistics categories. Whilst he leads the Par 4 Scoring with a fantastic 3.67 average he hasn’t quite got to grip with the Par 3 holes yet (giving up four shots to Adilson on those holes). Overall though, considering his record around this golf course, Jaco is very likely to be vying for the title on the back nine come Sunday afternoon.
