Round 1 of the BMW Masters presented by SRE Group produced 13 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 74.66. Luke Guthrie jumped out in front on -7 with fellow Americans John Daly and Peter Uihlein following behind. We analyse their performances and round up the early Genworth Statistics leaders.
Luke GUTHRIE -7
Luke Guthrie jumped out in front with a fantastic bogey free round of 65 (made up of one eagle and five birdies) in the windy conditions. Unfortunately not all of his Genworth Statistics data was available at the time of this report, but we can clearly see that the 23 year old talent from the United States did most of the damage on the Par 5 holes (one eagle and three birdies). To provide some background information, Luke has just completed his first full year on the PGA Tour (finishing 72nd on their official standings) and he arrived in China off the back of an excellent 5th place finish in Las Vegas last week (where he finished off with a bogey free 64 in the final round).

John DALY -4
John Daly was the only other player to navigate the Lake Malaren course without dropping a shot (alongside Guthrie) for an opening 68. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 47 year old golfer from the United States performed very well with the longer clubs, averaging 303 yards off the tee with 10/14 fairways and 13/18 Greens in Regulation. But most impressively he scrambled 5/5 times for Par when out of position and seemed to have his eye in on the greens.

Peter UIHLEIN -3
Peter Uihlein made it an American one-two-three with an opening 69, made up of six birdies and three bogeys. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the huge hitting 24 year old golfer was imperious from tee to green, ranking 3rd for Driving Accuracy, 5th for Driving Distance and 1st for Greens in Regulation. Note that Peter arrived this week off the back of one win already this year, plus runner-up finishes in two of his last three European Tour events.
