Genworth Stats Pack - Round 1 Review

Jamie Donaldson converted seven birdies against one bogey on his way to an opening 65, to follow on from his solid performance at the Seve Trophy last week. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, although the 37 year old English golfer only hit 6/14 fairways, he average 317 yards for Driving Distance and hit 16/18 Greens in Regulation (plus two of the Par 5 greens in sub regulation two shots).

Alvaro Quiros converted eight birdies (the most of the day alongside Felipe Aguilar and Marcel Siem) against two bogeys on his way to an opening 65. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 30 year old Spanish golfer drove the ball miles as usual but he also had his eye in on the greens, ranking very high in each of the putting categories. The six-time European Tour winner may well be finding some late season form.

David Lynn converted seven birdies against one bogey on his way to an opening 65, following on from a steady 2/4 points at last week’s team event. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 39 year old English golfer ranked quite low for the Diving categories but he still managed to hit lots of greens, plus the short game and putting was very sharp (his performance on the Par 3’s and par 5’s was exceptional).

Simon Thornton converted seven birdies against one bogey on his way to an opening 65. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 36 year old Irish golfer performed very consistently with the longer clubs, hitting 11/14 fairways and 16/18 Greens in Regulation, plus his short game and putting was also sharp (much the same as Lynn).

Felipe Aguilar produced the best Genworth Putting Statistics over the first day (1st for Putts per GIR, Putts per Round and 1 Putts per Round), which enabled him also to accumulate the most birdies (8 in total alongside Alvaro Quiros and Marcel Siem). The 38 year old golfer from Chile is enjoying a very lucrative season, with eight top ten finishes so far.

Maximilian Kieffer converted one eagle and four birdies during a bogey free opening round of 65 (one of ten players to finish the day without dropping any shots). Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 23 year old German golfer was strong across the board with 10/14 fairways, 16/18 Greens in Regulation and 29 putts in total.

Graeme Storm fired six birdies over the first nine holes of his round (the back nine of the course), eventually finishing with a 65. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 35 year old English golfer was also strong across the board, including ranking 1st for Par 4 Scoring with a 3.55 average.
