Genworth Stats Pack - Nordea Masters Preview

Alexander Noren has competed in this event on nine previous occasions, with great success at this venue in recent years (winning in 2011 and finishing 10th last year). Looking at his Genworth Statistics over the Bro Hof Slott course, the 32 year old golfer from Sweden seems to struggle a little with accuracy off the tee but he still manages to hit a decent number of the Greens in Regulation. Alexander’s main strength here appears to be on the greens, where he ranks high for each of the Genworth Putting Statistics categories, all leading to a very strong 70.20 Stroke Average.

Genworth Ambassador Peter Hanson has competed in this event on eleven previous occasions. He won in 2008 when it was held at Arlandastad Golf Club and he has also finished well when competing at this venue (34th in 2010 and 3rd last year). Looking at his Genworth Statistics over the Bro Hof Slott course, the 35 year old Swedish golfer ranks high for both Greens in Regulation and Putts per GIR, which then enables him to convert lots of birdies. He is also generally strong on the Par 4’s and Par 5’s but seems to struggle a little on the Par 3’s (perhaps they don’t quite fit his eye).

Mikko Ilonen has competed in this event on ten previous occasions. He actually missed the cut with his first five attempts but since then things have really improved, winning in 2007 at Arlandastad Golf Club and finishing 3rd here last year. Looking at his Genworth Statistics over the Bro Hof Slott course, the 33 year old golfer from Finland ranks very high for Greens in Regulation and seems to navigate his way around the course without dropping many shots. He is yet to perform at his best on and around the greens though.

Edoardo Molinari has competed in this event on three previous occasions, with excellent results at this venue (3rd in 2010 and 30th in 2012). Looking at his Genworth Statistics over the Bro Hof Slott course, the 32 year old Italian golfer looks very strong from tee to green, ranking 28th for Driving Accuracy and 13th for Greens in Regulation (plus he hits 15% of the Par 5 greens in sub-regulation two shots). If Edoardo can maintain that level with his long game this week and also hole a few putts, he could be a formidable opponent.

Jamie Donaldson has competed in this event on nine previous occasions, finishing inside the top 20 most of the time (including 8th here in 2010, 10th here in 2011 and 22nd here last year). Looking at his Genworth Statistics over the Bro Hof Slott course, the 37 year old golfer from Wales ranks high for both Greens in Regulation and Scrambles, plus he seems to play the Par 3 holes particularly well. Jamie already has one win under his belt this year and could be a dark horse here this week.

Matteo Manassero is competing in the Nordea Masters for the first time and arrives off the back of a heroic win last week at Wentworth. Looking at his Genworth Statistics since the beginning of March, when you consider the tough schedule of events that he has played, the 20 year old Italian maestro has been very solid in every department of the game. He is of course not the longest of hitters, but his iron play, chipping, bunker play and putting is all superb, and his temperament is one of the best in the business. Back to back wins are most definitely on the cards.

Simon Khan just missed out in a play-off for his second BMW PGA Championship last week but bounced straight back to lead the US Open Qualifying on Monday at Walton Heath. The 40 year old golfer from England has competed in this event on six previous occasions but not since 2009 (and never at this venue). Looking at his Genworth Statistics since the beginning of March, we can see that Simon’s strength is in his long game, driving it steady off the tee and hitting lots of greens (note that he led Greens in Regulation last week at Wentworth).

Genworth Ambassador Pablo Larrazábal has finished inside the top six on four occasions from his last six starts on the European Tour, and arrives to compete in his fourth Nordea Masters in fantastic form. Looking at his recent Genworth Statistics since the beginning of March, the 30 year old Spanish golfer seems to be in complete control of his game and he is likely to be bubbly in character and brimming with confidence. A third European Tour title is surely just around the corner.

Peter Uihlein is competing in the Nordea Masters for the first time and arrives in excellent form, with finishes of 4th, 8th, 65th, win (in Madeira) and 12th from his last five European Tour starts. Looking at his Genworth Statistics from those five events, we can see that while the 23 year old golfer from the United States does not rank that high for Driving Accuracy, he more than makes up for it in Driving Distance (Driving Accuracy is not as important for the big hitters as long as they are keeping the ball out of trouble). Peter also has a superb touch on and around the greens.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat is one of the European Tour’s rising stars and he arrives to compete in the Nordea Masters for the first time this week. Looking at his recent Genworth Statistics since the beginning of March, the 23 year old golfer from Thailand seems to have no real weaknesses. He drives the ball long and straight off the tee, hits plenty of greens and has a lethal touch on and around the greens. It all fits together to produce a ranking of 1st over that period for the all-important Genworth Stroke Average ranking.
