Adam Gee raced to the turn in just 30 strokes after six birdies in his first nine holes to lead at six under par early on day one at the Bad Griesbach Challenge Tour by Hartl Resort.

Birdies at one and three got the Englishman under the card and at the top of the board alongside a whole host of top talent, but a four birdie spurt from the sixth saw Gee lead the way by as many as three strokes halfway through the round.

On a congested leaderboard, Stuart Manley got off to the fastest start after an eagle at his first, the tenth, was followed by a birdie at the next hole to be at three under par through his first six holes.

The Welshman is alongside a number of other players in a tie for second including Korea’s Byeong-hun An who came so close to victory a fortnight ago at the Scottish Hydro Challenge presented by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, as well as Austria’s Manuel Trappel, another Welshman Oliver Farr, Denmark’s Mark F Haastrup and Englishman Luke Goddard.

Nicolas Meitinger is the lead German at this early stage, he’s one under par through his first three holes, and in a tie for 19th.
