Garcia shares lead in US

Sergio Garcia shares the halfway lead with Ryan Palmer in the Byron Nelson Classic after a second round of 66 at the TPC Four Seasons.

Garcia, who withdrew from an Open qualifier earlier this week and did not even play a practice round because of an infected fingernail on his left hand, was in a group on 66 after the first round and matched that score to pull level with Palmer who shot a second round of 67.

Garcia kept on course for the lead when he holed a seven foot putt on the 14th after a poor tee shot and finding a bunker behind the green.

He rode that wave of success to birdie the 15th and recorded a round of four under par to tie Palmer on eight under.

Garcia, who won the Byron Nelson in 2004, has not tasted success for three years when he took the Players Championship.

Behind the leading duo in a tie for third on five under are Tim Petrovic and Scott Piercy.

Nick Watney, Joe Ogilvie and Chad Collins are on four under, with Chris DiMarco, Ryuji Imada, Chris Riley, Josh Teater, Keegan Bradley and amateur Jordan Spieth a shot further back.

First round leader Jeff Overton slipped back into a tie for 14th as he followed his 64 with a 74 to lie on two under par.
