Gangjee on the verge of victory

Rahil Gangjee was closing in on a debut victory at the Guajarat Kensville Challenge after opening up a three-shot lead in Ahmedabad, in his native India.

The 33 year old, who tried his luck on the US Nationwide Tour last season, established a three-shot lead over his closest rivals courtesy of a devastating burst of four birdies in five holes after the turn.

That moved the Calcutta man to nine under par through 14 holes and gave him a comfortable cushion over the chasing pack, which is headed by Germany’s Max Kieffer on six under par.

Victory for Challenge Tour debutant Gangjee would keep the title in Indian hands, following his compatriot Gaganjeet Bhullar’s triumph in the inaugural event 12 months ago.
