Frost bites into Arizona start time

There was a 45-minute frost delay on the fourth day of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship as the tournament looked to make up for lost time.

Tournament organisers were hoping to cram both the third round and quarter-finals into Saturday, after a freak snowstorm on Wednesday had forced the first round to span three days.

Thankfully the morning hold-up was not a long one, and when play got underway Shane Lowry took the early initiative in his all-Irish clash with Graeme McDowell to go one up.

Australia’s Jason Day won the first against Masters Tournament champion Bubba Watson, but another of last year’s Major winners had an early lead as US Open Champion Webb Simpson went one up on Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño.

American Robert Garrigus was the first player to reach two up; he was through five holes against Swede Fredrik Jacobson.
