Frittelli targets more glory in Mauritius

South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli is seeking to end his most successful year as a professional on a high when he tees it up in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open from November 30 – December 3.

Frittelli secured his maiden European Tour victory this year in the Lyoness Open powered by Organic+ which carried him to a career-high of 74 on the Official World Golf Ranking. He also made his Major Tournament debut in The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale before teeing it up this week in the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

He is hungry for even more success at The Heritage Golf Club at Heritage Resorts, where he joins Major winner Louis Oosthuizen and multiple European Tour winners George Coetzee and Brandon Stone as the leading South Africans in the field.

Frittelli said: “For me this year has been about believing I’m good enough to be one of the best in the world.

“I’ve always been patient about moving from one phase to the next in my career. The European Tour victory was recognition of keeping the faith, sticking to my process and trusting myself. That builds confidence because you know you can play and be competitive at every level in this game.”

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is tri-sanctioned by the European Tour, the Asian Tour and the Sunshine Tour, and has this year been expanded to include a field of 156 professionals competing for the €1 million in prize fund.

The tournament also has a new position on the European Tour International Schedule, as the second event on the 2018 Race to Dubai.

The Heritage Golf Club will host the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open for the second time in three years, with Coetzee winning the inaugural title at the venue in 2015.
