Ladies Day lived up to its promise of livening up Foshan Open week with an inspirational day where the focus was on love, based on the theme of Love Life, Love Golf.
Ladies from golfing communities all over the Greater Bay Area converged on the Foshan Open to be the event’s VIP guests for the day. There was little time to draw breath as the guests soon became enthralled by a series of special guest speakers covering a wide variety of topics ranging from lifestyle, travel, beauty and inspiration to jewellery, sportswear, diet and nutrition.
Introducing Ladies Day was Julian Small, General Manager of Foshan Golf Club. He stressed that the key to the future success of golf is as a family sport. Given the all-important role of ladies in family life, a bit more care and love from the golf industry will surely encourage ladies to get their families involved in the sport.
Opening the special guest speaker session was Ms. Jo Hawley, the British Consul-General for Southern China, based in Guangzhou. Her excellent presentation on UK trends, lifestyle, travel and education seemed, judging by the reaction of many in the audience, to have come at a perfect moment for their stage in life.
Then it was straight on to glamour and glitz with a stunning presentation of beauty and personality from Ms. Han Hongyu, Foshan Area President of Mrs. Globe, the world’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for married women. Now in its 23rd year, the 2019 Mrs. Globe will be held in Shenzhen at the end of November.
The ladies then raced on to an exquisite jewellery show beautifully set up by Chow Tai Fook, who as well as being a major sponsor of the Foshan Open, is also one of the longest, having strongly supported the event since its inception in 2013.
There was just enough time to enjoy some tea and a bite from the delicious array of food before all were whisked off once more to one of the most keenly anticipated presentations of the day – female diet and body management. Speaker, Mao Xinyi, Dietician of Precision Nutrition, the largest and most respected private nutrition and coaching company in the world, wowed the audience with how big a difference to the body’s shape and health, precision-based diets can generate.
They were still talking about it as they were ushered into the next area where PLAYEAGLE, the sports and leisure brand, was holding a fashion show. From clothing to travel bags to golf trolleys, PLAYEAGLE’s trendy and imaginative designs continue to win an impressive chunk of customers from throughout the golfing world.
Next stop was the majestic VIP marquee located immediately behind the final green. It is so close that, from its veranda, you can almost feel that you can reach out and touch the Tour pros on the green.
While a healthy, nutritious buffet lunch was laid on, the marquee was also buzzing with some exquisite drink tastings, wine from Guangdong Shiwan Baiju Group and some exceptionally smooth port from the PSSP Group. A Floral Art Show and the specially set up Huawei Mobile Photography Salon where the ladies could try out the latest mobiles and eyewear meant a steady stream of guests around the marquee. There was also a photo opportunity of a replica of the famous Porsche Pink Pig from the 1970s motor racing period along with an exclusive special offer to buy a car.
One of the outstanding highlights was getting to meet some of the international players who visited the marquee and sharing a photo opportunity with them. Then it was outside for the Greater Bay Putting Challenge for Charity at the green of Foshan Golf Club’s well-known 19th hole.
“I wish I had even half of their energy and enthusiasm,” said Julian Small. “Ladies Day most certainly rocked with the power of love and, for that, there are so many to thank. Our special thanks go to Ms. Jo Hawley, British Consul-General, Ms. Han Hongyu, Foshan President of Mrs. Globe, Ms. Mao Xinyi, Dietician of Precision Nutrition, Chow Tai Fook jewelry, PLAYEAGLE sports and leisure, Huawei Device Co., Ltd. Foshan Region, Shiwan Baiju Group, the PSSP group and Porsche Foshan Nanhai.”
