Forsbrand and Langer in contention in the States

Senior Tour winners Bernhard Langer and Anders Forsbrand are two shots off the pace after the first day of the AT&T Championship on the US Champions Tour.

The duo both shot five under par rounds of 67 to trail leader Kenny Perry by two strokes.

Speaking afterwards, Langer was full of praise for Forsbrand, who was one of his vice captains when he led Europe to glory at The 2004 Ryder Cup.

Langer said: “He’s swinging really well. He’s certainly hitting the ball as well as anyone on this tour right now.”

Another Senior Tour champion, Colin Montgomerie, shot a round of 68 to share fourth place alongside Russ Cochran and Bob Tway.
