Fabrizio Zanotti
There’s plenty for Fabrizio Zanotti to think about in 2016, not least the likelihood of representing his native Paraguay in the Olympic Games this summer. Another solid year performing on The European Tour would give him the ideal platform to succeed in Rio de Janeiro.
The 32 year old finished in the top ten four times last year – a share of seventh at the Nordea Masters, fourth at the KLM Open, tied for third at the 72° OPEN D’ITALIA presented by DAMIANI and tied for second at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports.
As one of the most experienced players in the field at Pretoria Country Club, Zanotti could get his year up and running with his second European Tour win.
In his first two Tour events of the year he’s seen steady improvement. A share of 38th at The BMW SA Open hosted by City of Ekurhuleni was followed by a tie for seventh at the Joburg Open. Another strong result on home soil could be in the offing.
Horsey also took third place at the M2M Russian Open last year and took a share of ninth at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. A strong performance in Pretoria could set him up for another impressive year.
Zander Lombard
Lombard finished second to Haydn Porteous at the Joburg Open, ensuring his spot in the field for the year’s third Major Championship. Prior to that the 21 year old took a share of 12th at The BMW SA Open and finished fourth at the Australian PGA Championship. The extra incentive of performing in front of a home crowd will add to the occasion for one of South Africa’s most promising young players.
Im took an impressive share of third at the Joburg Open, preceded by a share of eighth at The BMW SA Open. Although it's early days in the Race to Dubai rankings, his current positon of 45th would be boosted by another strong performance in South Africa this week.
