Matt Fitzpatrick moved into contention after making a fast start on the final day of the D+D REAL Czech Masters.

The former US Amateur Champion had shared the lead with Pelle Edberg at the halfway stage of the competition, but after carding a one under par 71 on Saturday, he began his fourth round five shots off the lead held by Thomas Pieters.

But the Sheffield native surged up the leaderboard when he fired four birdies in his opening four holes on Sunday.

Fitzpatrick, who is chasing his first European Tour title, then safely parred the next five to reach the turn in 32 and sit just two shots behind Edberg after nine holes.

Edberg opened his round with back to back birdies but blotted his copybook with a bogey at the par three third.

The Swede picked up another shot at the ninth as he covered the front nine in 34.

Belgian Pieters made a gain at the first but slipped off the top of the leaderboard when he carded a double bogey on the third.

A birdie at the ninth took Pieters to the turn in 36, leaving him one shot behind Edberg.
