Defending champion Ross Fisher was recognised for his magnificent performance in last year’s Irish Open with an Honorary Life Membership of Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.
The Englishman, who went on to play in The 2010 Ryder Cup, finished two strokes clear of Irishman Padraig Harrington 12 months ago, setting a new course record with a superb 61 in the second round.
He made a strong start to the defence of his title, posting opening rounds of 67 and 68 to sit in a share of fifth place at the halfway stage.
