First Minister visits Castle Stuart

European Tour Chief Executive George O’Grady welcomed Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond to the final day of the Barclays Scottish Open at Castle Stuart.

The leader of the Scottish National Party enjoyed the sights of the newest venue on The European Tour International Schedule before meeting with several players on the range before the start of the third and final round.

Among the players the First Minister met on the range were Scots Peter Whiteford, Scott Jamieson, Paul Lawrie, Martin Laird and Alastair Forsyth before catching up with four time Major Champion Phil Mickelson.

The First Minister then spent some time with Bob and June Torrance, parents of the winning 2002 Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance before conducting a media conference to highlight VisitScotland’s Drive it Home campaign which helps to promote golfing offers and packages in Scotland.
