Fantasy three to watch in Ireland

We're at The K Club for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation this week. With big crowds expected and a strong field assembled at the famous County Kildare venue, out statistics guru has been taking a look at who he believes you might do well.

The K Club

Pick of the favourites: Danny Willett

Danny Willett

Making his first appearance on the European Tour since that famous Sunday at Augusta National, Danny Willett is back 'in the groove' five weeks on from winning the Masters Tournament, having arrived at The K Club early to get in some extra preparation. After taking some time off to enjoy his Masters triumph and spend time with his young son Zachariah, Willett was back in action at last week's Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass on the US PGA Tour, where despite missing the cut the Englishman finished one under par in testing conditions. Determined to get back among the winner's circle as soon as possible, Willett comes into his eighth European Tour event of the season still yet to miss a cut or finish an event over par. With two wins, four top fives and a cumulative score of 46 under par for the season, it is easy to see why the 28 year old leads the Race to Dubai by more than one million points! Also boasting a strong record in this event, with three top five finishes from five starts, Danny will be confident of being in contention come Sunday afternoon.

The Form Horse: Jeunghun Wang

Jeunghun Wang

Looking to become just the third player in history to win three consecutive European Tour events (after Sir Nick Faldo and Seve Ballesteros), no player in the field will be feeling more confident about their game than Jeunghun Wang. Back-to-back wins at the Trophée Hassan II and AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open have seen the South Korean take the European Tour by storm, with the 20 year old becoming the youngest player to win consecutive European Tour events. With six top tens from ten events worldwide in 2016, Jeunghun arrives at The K Club for his debut in this event in the form of his life.

The Wildcard: Ross Fisher

Ross Fisher

One of the most consistent performers on the European Tour, Ross Fisher is on a run of 11 consecutive cuts made, with the Englishman having finished outside the top 50 only once during that stretch. A measure of Fisher's consistency is that he has only carded three scores of 73 and over in his last 40 rounds. A previous winner of this event, in 2010, when it was held at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, Fisher arrives on the outskirts of Dublin well rested having spent the last couple of weeks honing his game at home. With a premium on length from the tee at The K Club - the Arnold Palmer-designed course measures a beastly 7,350 yards - it is just as well the 35 year old is hitting the ball further than ever before, averaging almost 295 yards from the tee so far this season.
