Fantasy Race off to a flyer after Desert Swing

The Desert Swing heralded the return of theFantasy Race to Dubai for 2012and it proved a fitting trio of tournaments to get this season’s game underway.

Top of the treeafter these first three events was Jose Luis Donoso and his McDon Guys team, thanks to the fact that at one time or another it included Robert Rock, Paul Lawrie and Rafael Cabrera Bello, and all on the weeks they proved victorious.

This is tremendous foresight and has no doubt come from hours of study, analysing both the entry lists and the form guides available through My European Tour membership, to get his picks just right each week.

But it was not just the winners that he got right, with selections like Dubai runner-up Lee Westwood, Abu Dhabi third place man Graeme McDowell and top ten machine Rory McIlroy all providing plenty of points to the McDon Guys’ team total.

The other key was keeping the missed cuts to a minimum, and once again he did this, throwing up only two non-scorers across the three weeks.

It is therefore clear from McDon Guys’ opening salvo that the way to succeed in the Fantasy Race to Dubai is to pick winners, and if you can’t manage that, make sure the players in your team finish as high as possible.

Quite a simple formula, but easier said than done. If you think you can do better then make sure you sign up to this season’s game as soon as possible to prevent falling further behind our fast starting league leader.

Throughout the season we will continue to run weekly, monthly and special prizes alongside the season-long competition, which means it is never too late to sign up and try your hand at a little fantasy.
