Andrew Johnston
The Englishman has a decent record on Spanish soil, including notching his only European Tour win at Valderrama in 2016 and finishing T4 at the Canary Islands Championship earlier this year. He comes in on decent form, having finished T24 and T15 the last two weeks on Tour. He’s 4th in scoring average and his top-10 performance off the tee should help set up plenty of birdie opportunities.
Ryan Fox
The big hitter is trending nicely with a run of T54-T24-T4 in his last three starts. He’s been good all year, with seven top-15s in total. He’s the second-longest player out there – averaging 318.97 yards off the tee – so he should be able to take advantage of a few risk-and-reward holes off the tee. Putting has been his weakest department this year, but he looks like he’s now found a method he’s pretty happy with.

Thomas Pieters
The Belgium may have only won once since 2016 but he is becoming more consistent.
He currently ranks 4th in strokes gained tee to green, and he hits it long and straight which will help when playing one of the longest par 5’s in European (over 600 yards). Two top tens in his last 4 outings shows enough form for me to pick him this week at Golf Santa Ponsa.
Matti Schmid
The German started his rookie year slowly but has found his feet this summer.
Five top 20’s including a second at the Dutch Open. I watched him on the range at ISPS HANDA World Invitational and was blown away by his athletic swing.
Matti averages over 300 yards off the tee but is also 15th in driving accuracy. From there he hits 71.50% greens in regulation (12th). An outsider for many but worth considering in your team
Adrian Otaegui
This will be the third week on home soil for the three time European Tour winner. It’s been a quiet year with one top 5 at the Scandi Mix. Once again Otegui has played consistent with a stroke average of 70.08 (29th). The Spaniard needs to get the putter hot if he is to make the Race to Dubai finals (58th in the standings). Mallorca seems a great place to start.
