Fan hits Hilton high note in Dubai

Alex Nicholls, who correctly guessed the order of the top three players in the August edition of the competition, before being drawn out of a hat as the overall winner, watched the final two rounds of the thrilling season finale before taking part in the Hilton Invitational at the Emirates Golf Club, Majlis course - all while enjoying three nights of luxury accommodation at the Hilton Dubai Jumeriah Resort.

The fun did not end there for Alex and his guest Kain Craigs though, with the pair enjoying the unique experience of playing alongside Hilton Golf Ambassador Tyrrell Hatton in the inaugural Hilton Invitational, an event which saw a range of lucky competition winners, corporate invites and Diamond Hilton HHonors members also taking part.

“The highlight of an amazing week was going head to head against Tyrrell Hatton on the par three seventh at the Emirates Golf Club,” said Alex, while his friend Kain was on hand to witness the defining moment of another dramatic Rory McIlroy victory.

“Actually being there live and seeing Rory hole that 30ft putt on the 17th during the final round to maintain a one shot lead going down the final hole was just amazing," said Kain.

“It was just brilliant being out in Dubai for the final event of the 2015 European Tour season, and also to play with Tyrrell at the Emirates Golf Club was beyond anything I could have ever expected."

Hatton, who enjoyed another impressive season on The European Tour in 2015, finishing in a career-high 35th in The Race to Dubai, also hosted a clinic, took part in a ‘Beat the Pro Challenge’ on the seventh hole and gave fans a unique insight into the life of a professional golfer at a Q&A session.

“It was all a bit surreal to be honest,” said Alex.  “You enter these types of competitions all the time and never think you’ll win, but I did. I’d like to thank Hilton for the once in a life time experience and for the amazing hospitality.”
