Every Shot Imaginable is back!

They are more accustomed to producing fireworks on the golf course, but could The European Tour’s best golfers set alight a barrel full of gunpowder on a pirate ship in the Moray Firth with a single strike of a golf ball?

Grégory Bourdy lines up for the Every Shot Imaginable challenge

Golfers that thrive on The European Tour have consistently demonstrated not just great shot making ability but fantastic imagination.

European Tour events provide such a disparate range of golfing challenges, from the trials of playing in the heat of the desert one week, to the vagaries of links golf in Scotland the next.  There are strange topologies and ancient courses with walls and bunkers that not even the bravest of designers would incorporate into a modern course.

A well-developed golfing imagination is always at a premium.

We have seen shots played from streams, from trees and even seen Seve play a shot from his knees.

But when faced with the “Gunpowder” challenge, it took hundreds of attempts before one of The European Tour’s top golfers could hit the gunpowder barrel and set the sky alight.

For the first in the series, we invited Paul McGinley, Rhys Davies, David Howell and Marcel Siem up from the Irish Open to a beautiful lake above Killarney in the Gap of Dunloe.  We challenged these golfers to skim a ball 200 yards across a lake to ring a 9 inch gong floating just above the water surface.

In Dubai, David Howell was the host as David Horsey, Thongchai Jaydee, Simon Khan and Johan Edfors attempted to hit a clay pigeon out of the sky with a golf ball, with the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, as the backdrop.

And now, Jeev Milkha Singh, Gregory Bourdy, Pablo Larrazabal and Stephen Gallacher tackle the latest challenge of defending Fort George on the Moray Firth by landing a ball into a gunpowder barrel aboard a small “invading” boat!

All of these players rose to the challenges, the competition was fierce and the banter irrepressible.

And who was the lucky man to light up the skies with an inch-perfect iron shot?
